Our differentiated strong line. Two rows of balls in a back-to-back arrangement handle combined radial and axial loads in both directions — ideal for applications where a single deep-groove bearing isn't enough.
Typical applications: Gearboxes, pumps, compressors, machine tool spindles, automotive wheel hubs, lifting equipment.

A double-row angular contact ball bearing carries radial load and axial load in both directions within one bearing unit. In design it is comparable to an integrated pair of single-row angular contact bearings arranged back-to-back, with a common inner ring and outer ring. It gives radial support and axial location in both directions in less axial space than two separate bearings.
Bearings with similar boundary dimensions can still differ in contact angle, groove geometry, internal clearance or preload, cage, closures and lubricant. The series number identifies a product route; the complete suffix, data sheet and drawing define the bearing. See the double-row angular contact series guide.
Start with the space around the shaft, then check load direction, clearance, closure and fits. The ranges below are the sizes in our size chart.

Download the size chart (PDF)The 3200 / 3300 designations and the older 5200 / 5300 designations are often used for the same envelope. A 5203 and a 3203, for example, both describe a 17 × 40 × 17.5 mm bearing. The designation does not fix the contact angle, groove curvature, clearance, closure or cage, so compare the bearing, not the number: envelope, row count and closure, contact angle, then groove geometry. See 3200 vs 5200: why one bearing has several part numbers.
A double-row bearing is narrower than two single-row bearings of the same bore and outside diameter — a 5204 is 20.6 mm wide, while two 7204 bearings stack to 28 mm. Its clearance or preload is set at the factory and it mounts as one part. A paired set gives more freedom in arrangement and preload but takes more width and more assembly steps. Double-row bearings fit pulleys, idlers, pumps, compressor clutches and gearbox shafts that need moment stiffness in a short width. See 5200 vs two 7200s.
Locating bearings on helical gearbox shafts and centrifugal pump shafts, pulleys and idlers, compressor clutches and compact shafts where one bearing replaces a pair. See double-row bearings for gearboxes and pumps.
They are often used for the same envelope, for example 3203 and 5203 are both 17 × 40 × 17.5 mm. Internal design such as contact angle and clearance can differ, so confirm against the data sheet, drawing or sample.
It is narrower, mounts as one part and has its clearance or preload set at the factory. A paired set is chosen when the arrangement or preload must be adjustable.
Axial clearance. Shaft and housing fits and a warm shaft reduce it after mounting, so state the fits and operating temperature on the enquiry.
