Custom Bearing Solutions

When the catalog stops, engineering starts.

Standard catalogs cover standard machines. When yours needs a bore that doesn't exist, an outer ring with a profile, or a clearance and noise spec the catalog can't hit — that's a custom project, and it starts with a manufacturability review, not a quote.

Send a drawing, a sample, or just the operating conditions. We machine our own rings in-house, so what we review is what we can actually make.

NLHB Improved Structure Ring slide bearing unit - NLHB separated inner ring design Ring slide assembly - battery and medical production line application

Ring Slide Bearing: Separated Inner Ring

?
The problem: Ring slides in battery and medical production lines run continuous cycles with frequent starts and stops — bearings must stay stable long-term and assemble consistently in volume.
Δ
Structural change: The original inner ring was integral, locked to the shaft by a single screw. We separated the inner ring from the shaft — the ring becomes an independent part with a full-circumference fit.
Key controls: Fit tolerance and concentricity between ring and shaft, datum for the separation face, radial / axial clearance — confirmed against machine duty.
Evidence: Assembly and unit photos on file. Manufactured by NLHB.
Result: Independent assembly, consistent batches, clear maintenance path — suited to continuous production-line duty.
In Production 4000TNFB custom double-row angular contact roller bearing - thick outer ring, inch bore

4000TNFB / 4002TNFB: Inch-Bore Thick-Wall Roller

?
The problem: Roller conveyor and guide positions need inch mounting dimensions and a stiffer outer ring — standard series don't line up.
Δ
Structural change: Custom double-row angular contact structure, inch bore + thickened outer ring, matched to existing mounting space and radial load.
Key controls: Inch-bore tolerance, outer-ring wall uniformity, double-row raceway consistency, radial clearance.
Evidence: In production at NLHB, with part photos and dimensional records.
Result: Standardized against inch mounting space and load duty; in pilot / production control.
NLHB Improved Structure BC05 high-speed textile bearing with ceramic balls

BC05 High-Speed Textile Bearing: Ceramic Balls

?
The problem: High-speed textile positions push steel balls to their heat and wear limits, threatening yarn-path stability.
Δ
Structural change: Hybrid construction — ceramic rolling elements, using their lower density and cooler running for high-speed duty.
Key controls: Ball grade and raceway match, cage guidance at speed, temperature-rise and noise verification — per machine position.
Evidence: Part photo on file. Application conclusion from NLHB's actual textile duty (rapid yarn-straightening position).
Result: Running in high-speed yarn-straightening positions; ceramic balls better matched to continuous high-speed duty.
Custom Structure DK13740 tensioner bearing

DK13740: Tensioner Bearing

?
The problem: Belt / timing-drive tensioner positions must run smooth and reliable under continuous tension.
Δ
Structural change: Tensioner-specific structure, customized to tension load and mounting method.
Key controls: Radial clearance, sealing type, tension load and speed matching — per application (textile / conveying / automotive).
Evidence: Part photo on file.
Result: In continuous-tension duty; smoothness and life controlled to machine requirements.
Structures We've Built

Non-standard structures we have made

Every category is backed by NLHB parts, production records or reverse-engineering data. Don't see your structure? Send the drawing — we start with a manufacturability review.

Thin-Wall Sleeves / Extended Bores

For tight mounting space or long shaft spans. Turning work-holding and grinding datums are the hard part — we review against your drawing and envelope.

FAQ

Before you start a custom project

No drawing — can you still work with us?
Yes. Send the operating conditions (machine type, speed, load, environment) plus anything dimensional — a sample, photos with a reference scale, or d / D / B. We reverse-engineer from samples.
How fast is sampling? What's the MOQ?
Both depend on structure and current capacity. We quote timeline and MOQ per project after the manufacturability review — not a fixed catalog number.
Can you make any custom bearing?
No — and we'll say so early. If a structure doesn't fit our processes (e.g. ring turning limits, heat-treatment constraints), the review flags it before you spend money on tooling.
Will production stay consistent?
That's what the version freeze is for: dimensions, clearance, noise targets and inspection plan are locked with the sample approval, and batch records are kept against that standard.
