Bearing Components & Finishing Supplies

Bearing components are the individual parts that make up a rolling bearing: the inner ring, the outer ring, the rolling elements (balls or rollers), the cage, and the seals or shields. Finishing supplies are the stones and wheels consumed when those parts are machined.

NLHB is a bearing manufacturer. We turn, grind, superfinish and assemble bearings in our own plant in Ningbo, China. The components and stones on these pages are selected and inspected to the same standard we use for our own production, not resold from a catalogue.

We supply:

Find the right product category

Bearing inner and outer rings

Bearing inner and outer rings

Turned, heat-treated and finished rings made to drawing. Fix the delivery condition first, then the material, raceway and inspection items.

Chrome steel and stainless steel balls

Chrome steel and stainless steel balls

GCr15 / 52100 chrome steel balls and 440C, 304 and 316 stainless balls, ordered by material, diameter, grade and gauge.

PA66, PA46, PEEK and PAI cages

PA66, PA46, PEEK and PAI cages

Crown-type and machined polymer cages, selected by bearing design, temperature, speed and lubricant.

Raceway superfinishing and OD finishing stones

Raceway superfinishing and OD finishing stones

Cubic silicon carbide (SC) raceway superfinishing stones and OD finishing stones for ring outside diameters.

What parts make up a ball bearing

Part Function Common material Key quality items
Inner ring Mounted on the shaft, raceway on the outside GCr15 / 52100 bearing steel Bore size, raceway size and roundness, hardness
Outer ring Mounted in the housing, raceway on the inside GCr15 / 52100 bearing steel OD size, raceway size and roundness, hardness
Balls Roll between the raceways and carry the load GCr15 / 52100, 440C Grade, gauge, surface defects
Cage Keeps the balls evenly spaced Pressed steel, brass, PA66, PA46, PEEK, PAI Pocket size, strength, clearance to the balls
Seals / shields Keep dirt out and grease in NBR with steel insert, steel sheet Lip interference, correct seating

Rings and balls set the accuracy and life of the bearing. The cage sets its speed and lubrication tolerance. The superfinishing stone sets the final raceway surface.

HS codes for bearing components

Common customs classifications are shown below. They are a starting point only; your customs broker must confirm the code for the actual product and destination.

Product Common heading Note
Balls, needles and rollers shipped separately 8482.91 Low-precision steel balls may fall under 7326
Rings, cages and other bearing parts 8482.99 Some tariffs list ball bearing races separately
Superfinishing and honing stones Subheadings of 6804 The exact subheading is confirmed by your customs broker for the actual product

Start with the information you have

Any one of the following is enough to start:

  1. A drawing with its number and revision.
  2. A photo of the complete label on the part or stone you use now.
  3. A sample, plus the bearing type or machine it is used on.
  4. If you only have a bearing number: which part, how many, and for what equipment.

For components we confirm fits and inspection items. For stones we confirm the operation and the trial-grinding conditions.

Frequently asked questions

What are the components of a ball bearing?

An inner ring, an outer ring, balls, a cage, and usually seals or shields. Stones and grinding wheels used to make these parts are finishing supplies, not bearing components.

Can I buy rings, balls or cages without complete bearings?

Yes. Rings, balls, cages and stones can each be quoted separately in the quantity you need.

Are you a factory or a trading company?

NLHB is a bearing factory. Ring turning, grinding, raceway superfinishing and assembly are done in our own plant, and we specify and inspect components to our own production standard.

Can I request a quote with incomplete information?

Yes. Send what you have: a part number, sizes, photos or a sample. We will list the missing conditions and quote once they are confirmed.
